On October 24th Chairman Bigelow attended President Trump's signing of a new law intended to combat drug addiction.  The legislation, which had overwhelming bipartisan support in Congress, will lift Medicaid and Medicare restrictions and will help create opioid addiction recovery centers.  The legislation also backs research into alternatives to opioids as medication for pain management.  D.C. has one of the highest per capita rates of opioid-related deaths, with 209 deaths in 2016, and the Chairman attended the White House ceremony to show the police union's support for the effort to address the opioid crisis.
